As part of The Creative Covens 'Weaving creative threads of Remembrance' event I was asked to create banners to depict the almost 4,000 names of those executed in Scotland for the crime of Witchcraft.
This was a highly emotional and at times difficult project to complete as placing the names together in this way for the first time in history really hit hard just how many were affected by this barbaric law.
After I painstakingly placed the names in columns I edited beautiful artwork donated by various artists to give the impression of souls from the past misty and faint in the background.
The 4,000 names banners were then printed to natural linen and finished with red lacing to the top.
The Unknown banner features the haunting artwork of Tracey Swift.
The Witches of Culross banner again features the symbolic herbs and thistles of the Creative Coven Logo and the red threads to represent the blood spilled.
